SDOC Early Release Day on March 11

Students get out of school early on Wednesday in Oconee County. One Wednesday per month, the School District allows for faculty and staff professional development, explains Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “We try to space these out, we have them once every nine weeks and we have individual schools determine what kind of professional development they need for their particular school. A lot of the things that we do during the school year are district wide and not everybody has the same needs, so this gives our schools an opportunity to work on specific things for them. It also allows them to include their entire staff with assistants and other folks, who are not contracted to work some of the in-service days.” The next early release day for the School District of Oconee County is March 11, 2015. Elementary students dismiss at 11:45am and middle and high school students let out at 12pm.
