SDOC maintains High Report Card Ratings

The South Carolina Education Oversight Commission has released report cards for all schools and districts in the state. The School District of Oconee County maintained an absolute rating of excellent and a growth rating of good, explains Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland. “These results reflect the leadership of Mike Lucas. He was an instructional leader who cared about students and learning and was a role model for all of us. We will continue to focus on making sure we have highly qualified teachers in every classroom who are trained and supported so that all students achieve success. This is a strong foundation for us to build on as we continue to strive toward being in the top ten districts in the state.” In addition, two schools improved their absolute ratings. Northside Elementary and Seneca High School both moved into the excellent category. Special recognition is being given to two Title I schools, James M. Brown and Orchard Park Elementary Schools are being recognized for their gains in serving at-risk students. Report card details for the district and each school are available online at the State Department of Education website.
