Seneca and Oconee coordinating CAT Bus expansion

In an effort to provide more people with transportation in Oconee County, plans to expand CAT Bus services are underway. Last week, Oconee County Administrator Scott Moulder held a meeting with Seneca Planning and Community Development Director Ed Halbig on obtaining grant money to extend the fare free public transit service into rural parts of the county. Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander gives details. “I’m just so happy to hear this is actually moving forward a little bit more. Scott recently got with Ed and will now go before county council to set aside some funding where they don’t have to spend it until they receive a grant application. So, that is in the process right now and it’s probably a two-year window but the process has started. Just like what Seneca did and it took us about three or four-years to actually get started.” Moulder plans to present Oconee County Council with an 80% grant to purchase buses and another 80% grant to operate them. The county would pay 20% of those grants.
