Seneca approves Compensation Study

A compensation study to examine the pay of similar sized cities in the surrounding area received preliminary approval Tuesday night by the Seneca City Council. This is something done every few years, explains Seneca Mayor Pro-tem Ronnie O’Kelley. “It has been about ten years since we have done that study. Last year, we did not give a pay raise at budget time; however, later in the year, when funds were available, we gave a bonus. In that, we decided it is time to do another study, which will look at other neighboring cities to see what a lineman, police officer, firefighter or whatever employee, to make sure we are in line, if we are not in line then we need to adjust. This is just a good way of knowing what is happening.” The Seneca City Council plans to hold further discussion on the compensation study at their next regular meeting in February.
