Seneca awards Construction Contracts

Two construction contracts were awarded at a special meeting Tuesday night of the Seneca City Council. The first project involves Seneca Light and Water’s Warehouse Facility Project, explains Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander. “Hogan Construction is the one doing the work. The project is behind City Hall where the Utility Yard is now. There will be a total renovation done there and there are some renderings at City Hall if anybody would like to look at them. We had a public hearing and we had a few people make comments, but what it will allow is a large portion of stuff to be under the building. It will totally redo the Yard and make it more efficient. Also where the Lowery Building is where the office spaces are, there will be work done there too.” The Seneca City Council awarded Hogan Construction a $2.4 million contract to build the downtown storage facility. A second project behind City Hall will be the addition of an electric substation, adds Mayor Alexander. “The substation is getting a total upgrade there that is something we have been working on and everything is now in place. The contract has been awarded on that project and it will start up soon and take a little while to happen. That substation hasn’t been upgraded since the time it was installed. There are real tight quarters there, which make it extremely difficult, and dangerous to work in, but at the time it was built that was the way they were built. This will make it much safer and it upgrades all the equipment that needs to be upgraded as we are doing it.” That construction contract, worth roughly $600,000, was awarded to J-L Malone Company of Albany, Georgia.
