Seneca Budgets grows to $40.7M

The City of Seneca is growing, want proof just look at the proposed 2014-15 fiscal year budget.   At a work session meeting Tuesday night, Mayor Dan Alexander and City Clerk/Treasurer Joel Seavey presented to Seneca City Council the proposed budget. “$40,700,000 for all of them combined and I remember when I first come on as mayor the budget were around $15-16 million combined, so Seneca has grown and we have been able to do a lot with a lot of increases.” A lot of time and energy went into preparing this year’s budget, adds Mayor Alexander. “It was actually 7 different budgets and they have to be done that way because they have different purposes.  I want to thank Joel Seavey because it takes a lot of hard work putting these budgets together and Joel has really helped me.” No tax increases are planned, nor are there any utility or other rate increase, says Mayor Alexander. “I wanted to present a budget that didn’t have any increases.  There are things that we would like to do but we are sort of holding off on some of those and taking care of some other things.” The Seneca City Council has planned first reading of the fiscal year 2014-15 budget during a meeting next week.
