Seneca changing Lives with Cat Bus

Over 8,000 people live in the City of Seneca. Just imagine if all those people drove cars in the city? Thankfully, they don’t have to, thanks to a partnership between the City of Seneca and Clemson Area Transit. “It is changing people’s lives and that is one thing we have talked about over and over that in many situations, people don’t have the means to get from one place to another. This gives them that independence, to be able to take a public transportation bus and be able to go where they want to go.” Proof residents are taking advantage of the CAT Bus System is seen in ridership figures over the seven years of operation in the city, adds Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander. “From day one we have increased every year in the amount of riders that we have using the public transportation. This year, Seneca will go over 300,000 riders and Clemson will be over 2 million riders.” Passengers wait less than 30 minutes for pickups at the new bus stop located at the lower level of Norton-Thompson Park. The city has placed benches underneath tents to accommodate passengers as they wait for the bus.
