Seneca City Council announces Alternative Parking Plan for Duke Energy Employees

The idea of Duke Energy workers parking in Norton-Thompson Park and then shuttled by bus to the Oconee Nuclear Station has been scrapped, explains Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander. “There is allocation that is closer to the Nuclear Station that they are going to be able to use instead of using the parking downtown. What we will do is work with CAT and help them use public transportation to get people back and forth where the parking spot will be going to the Nuclear Station. There is a major project going on and lots of people coming in from all over to work on some of the things that they are having to do at Duke Energy.” Training sessions this month and next is bringing in an estimated 4,500 Duke Energy workers to its Oconee Nuclear Station.
