Seneca Council donates to Safe Harbor

At their monthly meeting Tuesday night, the Seneca City Council donated $2,500 to Safe Harbor, the nonprofit organization that provides safe shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims of domestic violence.  Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander gives details.  “We are very excited about what Safe Harbor is doing in this community, they have done an amazing job this year raising money to address the issue of domestic violence, but we wanted to contribute to their cause in fighting domestic violence.” Last week, Safe Harbor partnered with the City during Jazz on the Alley to hold a fundraising auction, adds Mayor Alexander.  “Last week during Jazz on the Alley, we had a great event with a lot of people attending and they were able to raise a good bit of money.” Through the silent auction during Jazz on the Alley, Safe Harbor raised $3,214.  Their goal is to raise $1 million to build and operate a domestic violence shelter in Oconee County.  To donate to Safe Harbor, visit www.safeharborsc.org.
