Seneca Council expecting Audit in February

A financial accounting of 2014 awaits the Seneca City Council at their February meeting. Tuesday night at their work session, the council learned that outside auditor Mike Stancil would present the city’s latest audit, explains Seneca Mayor Pro-tem Ronnie O’Kelley. “This is something we do every year, but it gives the public a chance to hear the city’s financial situation. City Administrator Greg Dietterick and City Finance Director Joel Seavey will put together kind of a master plan of where we are at and then Mike Stancil looks at it and gives his recommendations. He tells us financially where we are at, if we need to change or tweak anything and we usually react to what Mike tells us because he is our financial planner, so to speak as far as our CPA.” A draft copy of the audit for the government year that ended June 30, 2014 shows that Seneca improved its “net position” by $3.3 million.
