Seneca Elementary Principal resigns after arrest

A Seneca Elementary School Principal has been arrested.  The Seneca Police Department reports the arrest of Blue Ridge Elementary School Principal Idasa Cobb.  She stands charged with the misdemeanor offense of “failure of certain persons to report child abuse or neglect.” Cobb was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center yesterday afternoon.  The School District of Oconee County released the following statement: The principal at Blue Ridge Elementary School was placed on administrative leave, with pay, earlier this week.  The principal has submitted her resignation to the School District of Oconee County, and there is a pending investigation by law enforcement.  The principal has been charged with failure of certain persons required to report child abuse or neglect.  The allegations of child abuse do not involve a District employee and they are not alleged to have occurred at school.  The District is fully cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation and cannot comment further given the ongoing investigation and confidential student issues involved.  Kathy Eichler, who previously served as principal of Blue Ridge and Code Elementary Schools, will serve as Interim Principal for the time being.  This is the second principal to resign this week in the School District of Oconee County.  On Tuesday, Walhalla High School Assistant Principal Charlie Fowler resigned after being accused of cyberbullying a 6-year-old girl. That incident involved posting a picture of the girl with the words “Honey Boo-Boo at Walmart.”
