Seneca finalizes plans for Veterans Appreciation Night

After discussions to move the Wounded Warriors event to Norton-Thompson Park in downtown, the Seneca Events Committee has decided to move the event honoring veterans back to the Gignilliat Community Center.  Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson gives details.  “The Veterans Appreciation Night is something that the City is very excited about.  We were thinking about trying to put it in downtown Seneca, but the folks that are in charge of the soldiers came and looked at it and they just said it would be a better place if we could get the Wounded Warriors, the Marines from Camp Lejeune, into the Gignilliat Community Center.  So, we are going to do Veterans Appreciation Night on June 24.” Johnson tells what is planned for Veterans Appreciation Night.  “We will be selling BBQ plates, we have live music, the Jeff Vaughn Band is going to be playing and no fireworks or laser show, it is just going to be a Veterans Appreciation Night for all the veterans in our area.  We have so many veterans that live around here from all the wars and we just want to include them in this event and make it something special to all veterans as the Marines are in from Camp Lejeune staying on Lake Keowee enjoying some rest and relaxation.” The Veterans Appreciation Night hosted by the City of Seneca on June 24 in the Gignilliat Community Center is free to attend.
