Seneca Fire Department And Other Agencies Investigate Wednesday Evening Boating Accident On Lake Keowee

(Seneca, SC)—-The Seneca Fire Department, Oconee County Emergency Services, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, paramedics from Prisma Health and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources responded to a boating accident on Lake Keowee near Sugar Valley Road in Seneca yesterday evening. 

The accident involved a pleasure boat with one person on board versus a pontoon boat that had six people on board. 

According to Seneca Fire Chief Richie Caudill, the pleasure boat sank. Chief Caudill says that the boat will be located and recovered by salvage crews in the coming days. 

Only minor injuries were reported and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources conducted the investigation.
