Seneca Man arrested for Attempted Murder

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man this week on charges of attempted murder. A deputy responded to Oconee Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning regarding a stabbing. The victim told the deputy that he received a phone call and texts from a friend of his regarding a reported assault that was occurring on Newry Road. The victim went to the scene. While there, the victim told the deputy that 21-year-old Matthew Jacob Eder of Seneca had come out of the residence and put something in his waistband. The victim then stated that Eder pulled a knife and started swinging it at him. An altercation occurred and the victim said that Eder stabbed him in the chest. The victim received treatment at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Eder was later arrested by deputies at the hospital on unrelated charges due to a separate incident that occurred in the parking lot. Eder was later placed on a temporary custody order until a warrant could be obtained charging him with attempted murder.
