Seneca Man arrested on Drug Conspiracy Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man late Sunday afternoon on drug conspiracy charges. 47-year-old Howard Eugene Johnson was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center. Around Nov. 12, Narcotics Agents began an investigation into the purchase of Pseudoephedrine by Johnson beyond the legal limit. Pseudoephedrine is a common ingredient in the making of methamphetamine and only 9 grams can be purchased in a 30-day period, according to the law. The investigation revealed that Johnson was blocked from purchasing around 16 grams of Pseudoephedrine between Nov. 12 and Nov. 21 from five different pharmacies, all located in the Seneca area. Johnson is currently being held at the Oconee County Detention Center on a $5,000 surety bond.
