Seneca Man arrested on Multiple Charges related to Weekend Auto Break-ins

A series of auto break-ins over the weekend led the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office to arrest a Seneca man on multiple charges. According to deputies, 27-year-old Daniel Lloyd Stevens broke into four vehicles. The first report came in around 9:23am Sunday morning regarding a break-in of a blue Chevy S10 pickup truck at an address on Broadway Street near Seneca. According to deputies, the driver’s side window had been broken and tools, electronic items and sunglasses were reportedly taken. This break-in occurred sometime between 9pm Saturday evening and the time that the incident was reported. A second auto break-in was reported around 10:35am Sunday on an address on Newry Road near Seneca in which the complainant woke up to find that someone had entered his black 2014 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, upon which a firearm, ammunition, electronic items and cash were taken, alone with other miscellaneous items. Deputies believe this break-in occurred sometime between 10pm Saturday evening and the time that the incident was reported. The third auto break-in report was taken from an address on South Avenue also near Seneca around 1:48pm in which the complainant stated that someone broke into a vehicle, damaged the interior, and took a firearm. According to deputies, this incident is believed to have occurred between noon on Saturday and 11am Sunday. The fourth and final auto break-in report was reported around 5:42pm from an address on Broadway Street in Seneca in which a complainant told deputies that a stroller and miscellaneous car parts had been taken. Deputies believe that this final incident occurred sometime between 9pm Saturday and 8am on Sunday. While the investigation into the incidents was ongoing Sunday, deputies received information that Stevens may have been involved in these break-ins. Deputies issued a BOLO for a silver 2007 Nissan Frontier, which was later discovered on Sub Station Road in the county, with Stevens found unconscious inside with many of the stolen items from the car break-ins inside the vehicle. Stevens was arrested and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center. In warrants obtained by the Sheriff’s Office, Stevens stands charged with three counts of petit larceny, one count of grand larceny and four counts of breaking into a motor vehicle in regards to the weekend incidents. Stevens was also charged with one count of driving under suspension. The firearms and ammunition that were taken have been recovered, according to deputies. Stevens also faces an additional count of petit larceny related to an incident that occurred on June 10 at an address on Stonehaven Way in Seneca in which Stevens is accused in warrants to “permanently deprive the owner, attempt to take and carry away cash.” The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office continues their investigation into the case.
