Seneca Man Arrested on Multiple Counts in Domestic Violence Investigation

A Seneca man remains in jail today after his arrest Wednesday on multiple counts in relation to a domestic violence investigation.

49 year old Carl Frank Crane, of Wrangler Way, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:40pm Wednesday. Crane has been charged with one count each of Kidnapping, Domestic Violence – 1st Degree and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.

A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau met with the victim, an adult female, at the hospital on Sunday evening, May 21st, in reference to a reported domestic violence incident. The victim told the deputy that on Saturday, May 20th, Crane had confronted her verbally, and then assaulted her physically, at the Wrangler Way residence.

According to the victim, Crane also produced a pocket knife and a gun, as well as a whip that was used to assault the victim, according to an arrest warrant. Crane also made threats to harm to victim as well. According to the victim, Crane would not allow her to leave and possessed her phone. The responding deputy also observed a physical manifestation of injuries on the victim.

The investigation was turned over to an Investigator with the Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau. Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, the Investigator was able to obtain arrest warrants against Crane.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation. Due to the nature of the charges filed, and for personal and health privacy reasons, the Sheriff’s Office will not release the name of the victim nor provide any information regarding her health condition.
