Seneca Man arrested on Multiple Weapon and Drug Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man Tuesday evening on multiple charges with drug and weapons warrants among them. A deputy responded to an address on Hidden Hill Drive to reports of a man waving a firearm at his neighbors. Dispatch informed the officer that subject was in a green Ford SUV and was attempting to leave the area. The deputy attempted to stop the SUV, when the driver slammed into reverse, sped down a gravel road and struck a tree. A 200-yard foot chase ensued. After making contact with the suspect, 42-year-old Casmiro Diaz an arrest was made. Diaz was charged with having no South Carolina driver’s license, reckless driving, possession of stolen goods, improper tag, failure to register vehicle and operating an uninsured vehicle. Information also became known that Diaz had several aliases and that Pickens County had outstanding warrants on Diaz but under a different name. Deputies also booked Diaz on temporary custody orders on charges of possession of a controlled substance (Lorazepam) and unlawful carry of a firearm until warrants on those charges are obtained.
