Seneca Man Charged by OCSO with Trafficking in Methamphetamine

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man Wednesday night around 10:05pm on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, after over 2 pounds of the drug were seized as part of a traffic stop.

Besides the drug charge, 36 year-old Randall Joseph Emery has also been charged with one count each of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Resisting Arrest. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant on a Sex Offender Registry Violation.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop of a white Nissan Altima on Wells Highway near Seneca. During the course of the traffic stop, Emery exited the vehicle from the passenger side, ran away on foot, and carried a bag from the vehicle.

Emery is listed as an owner of the vehicle and had an outstanding arrest warrant through the Sheriff’s Office for the Sex Offender Registry Violation that stated Emery failed to report a change of address, which is mandated by the court, as Emery returned to Oconee County on April 16th of this year without registering his new address.

After Emery lost his footing, the deputy placed him into custody and retrieved the bag, a search of which produced zip-lock bags that contained approximately 2.2 pounds of Methamphetamine. A handgun was also located near the passenger side door.

A female driver of the vehicle was released from the scene, and the Nissan Altima
was towed away.

At this time, Emery remains in custody at the Detention Center with a total bond amount set at $225,000.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
