Seneca Man Charged by OCSO with Trafficking in Methamphetamine

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man over the weekend on a Trafficking in Methamphetamine charge.

28 year old Luther Darren Reid was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:46 pm Sunday. Reid was also charged with Driving under Suspension and Operating a Motor Vehicle Uninsured.

A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division, on routine patrol in the area of S. Highway 11 and Armstrong Road Sunday afternoon, observed a blue 2018 Suzuki motorcycle traveling on Armstrong Road. The motorcycle was being operated by Reid, who the deputy knew had a suspended license.

Reid pulled the motorcycle onto some property on Armstrong Road and after noticing the deputy, fled on foot. Reid was detained after a short foot pursuit, whereupon Reid was placed under arrest after the deputy confirmed that his license was suspended and the motorcycle was not insured.

A quantity of Methamphetamine was located on Reid’s person. The motorcycle was towed away from the scene and Reid was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

At this time, Reid remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center, where he was given a $50,000 personal recognizance bond on the drug charge and a combined $2,300 surety bond on the traffic violation charges.
