Seneca Mayor Comments On Proposed Housing Development On South 7th Street, S. Fairplay and S. Townville Streets On Coffee Time

(Seneca, SC)———–Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander appeared on the Coffee Time program Wednesday and provided these comments on the proposed development at S. 7th Street at S. Fairplay and S. Townville Street’s in regards to balancing future growth with maintaining the character of the city.

“As we do grow, you know, things do change. so we sometimes, we have to be open and look at things different than maybe the way things used to be,” said Mayor Alexander.

The Mayor said that one of the great things about the development is due to the potential change in the zoning designation, the city knows “exactly what’s being built there,” according to the Mayor.

The Mayor said that previously in the past, there were duplexes located on the property of the proposed development and also several trailer’s at one time in the past as well. The property has sat vacant since that time.

Mayor Alexander went on to say that the houses in the development will be built close together and the front of many of the homes will face the road with the parking in the back of the houses. The Mayor said the back of the homes will look aesthetically pleasing as well.

Sidewalks will also be constructed at the development and the Mayor said that the development is being constructed as a “community within a community.”
