Seneca Mayor gives credit for Top Ranking

Nerd Wallet recently named Seneca as the “best place to start a business in South Carolina” for its economic health and overall business climate. In the last 36 months, over $150 million in new industrial related economic development projects have been announced for the community. Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander credits several people for their hard work in obtaining the state’s top ranking. “When you look at this area, it has so much to offer especially for families, the workplace and the natural beauty. I was very honored with that, I just thought that was great and says a lot about the community. When I think about how we got there, it is not just Seneca and the City Council, but I think about Richard Blackwell, Scott Moulder, Greg Dietterick, those whole staffs and the county government. Economic development at the county level is second to none; they are doing a great job reaching out to businesses trying to get jobs.” Nerd Wallet, a personal finance and consumer advocacy website, examined communities across South Carolina that had populations over 7,000 and more than 500 businesses.
