Seneca Police Investigating Deadly Shooting

Upon arrival officers located two individuals with gunshot wounds. One individual was declared deceased on scene by the paramedics. The other individual died on the way to the hospital.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis issued a press release which stated that Christopher Hunter Todd, 20, of Pickens died at the scene at 7:10 pm. Zema Darnell Fling, 17, of Seneca; he died at 7:45 pm prior in an EMS unit prior to being air lifted to Greenville.
Autopsies performed on Tuesday revealed that both men died due to gunshot injuries to their torso (chest area). The manner of death for each is classified as homicide.

The Seneca Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division took over the scene and are actively investigating the incident. The Seneca P.D. was assisted by the Seneca Fire Department, and the Seneca Rescue Squad. Police said they believe this was an isolated incident and that there is currently no danger to the community.

During the investigation it was found that the two deceased individuals were involved in a firearm purchase.  The 17-year-old individual was selling a handgun to the 20-year-old.  During the purchase gunshots were exchanged, resulting in the death of both individuals.

Seneca Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened around 7:15 p.m.this evening.

Interim chief Casey Bowling said that two men were shot and killed along Tribble Street. He added that there is no danger to the public.

The Oconee County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identities of the two men.
