Seneca Police launch Drug Sweep

At 7am this morning, the Seneca Police Department launched another drug sweep. Police have 44 warrants for the arrest of 25 people on charges ranging from distribution of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs. Seneca Police Chief John Covington said that his officers are being assisted by members of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. Three hours into the operation, 12 suspects were incarcerated as police actively seek others wanted in the operation. This latest drug sweep operation stems from a 5-month long undercover investigation by the Narcotics Unit of the Seneca Police Department. Chief Covington reports in addition to the suspects wanted in the drug sweep, police arrested four people for possession of a stolen gun and marijuana.
