Seneca praised for Successful State Softball Tournaments

The best eight and under and ten and under softball teams in the state were crowned last night at the Shaver Recreation Complex. The eight and under team from Dillon won the Darlings Division and the ten and under team from Latta won the Angels Division and will represent South Carolina later this month in the Dixie World Series in Monroe, Louisiana. Dixie Softball National Director Ralph Henson praised the City of Seneca for hosting the two tournaments. “That is the reason we like coming to Seneca, they do a great job every time we are over here and this is another great job. We are looking in the future to hopefully have them do a World Series for us over here and at least another state tournament soon. You can’t say enough about Rick Lacey, Shannon Knight and the ground crew, they did great work.” Echoing that Dixie Softball State Director Phil Parnell said he could not ask for two better run state tournaments. “The tournaments were great. We couldn’t ask for better state tournaments, no problems and the Seneca Recreation Department did an outstanding job as they always do. The people up here have so much hospitality and are friendly with a smiling face. It is like they say, ‘South Carolina is a state of beautiful places and smiling faces and there is a lot of that in Seneca, South Carolina.”
