Seneca QB named SC Finalist for Wendy’s High School Heisman

The Wendy’s High School Heisman Program has named Elijah Turner of Seneca High School as one of South Carolina’s best student-athletes and a State Finalists of the program. Each State Finalist receives a bronze medal, a Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist patch and a $25 Wendy’s gift card. The State Finalists continue on to the next round of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program, where only one male and one female student advances to be named State Winners. Elijah Turner was selected as 2015 State Finalists due to his success in athletics, academics, and community service. Elijah is a member of the football team at Seneca High School where he was recently named to the North-South All-Star Football Team. He is a two-time All-Region selection and has earned four varsity letters. Elijah is also a member of the baseball team where he is a two-time All-Region selection and has earned three varsity letters. Elijah has a 4.99 GPA and ranks fifth in the senior class. He has serviced on Junior Leadership Oconee, the School Improvement Council, and the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. He is a Student Government Senator. His community service activities include Project Unify and The Special Olympics. The Wendy’s High School Heisman Program has recognized exceptional student athletes for more than two decades. State Winners will be named on Nov. 9, 2015, where one male and one female finalist from each state will be chosen to continue through the program. Following this, 10 National Finalists will be selected from the group of State Winners and will continue to compete for the National Winner title in New York City on Dec. 11. The National Winners will be announced during the National Awards Banquet, where one senior male and one senior female will be recognized with the title. The National Winners will be recognized during the collegiate Heisman Trophy announcement on ESPN on Dec. 12.
