Seneca Seeks County Funding for Fire Contract

Seneca City Council is currently deliberating on whether the city government will receive enough funds from the county to continue providing fire protection services to its five-mile unincorporated radius.

The county’s three largest municipalities are also involved in negotiations over new fire contracts. During a special meeting, the City Council asked reporters and others to leave the chambers for a private discussion on the matter.

However, after reconvening an hour later, no decisions were made based on the private deliberations. Seneca currently receives approximately $650,000 annually for fire services, but is seeking $1.6 million.
