Seneca spotlighting Tourism on Saturday

On Saturday, the City of Seneca turns the spotlight on tourism. At 8am, the city launches a new radio show called City Talk on 94.1 The Lake. This is an effort to increase tourism in the city, explains Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander. “94.1 The Lake, ya’ll have really expanded your area, you now go into the Anderson, Greenville and Easley area. We are looking forward to doing City Talk. This is an opportunity for Events Coordinator Riley Johnson, myself and special guests to talk about all the good things that are going on in Seneca. Talk about the events that are coming up, but mainly focusing too on all the projects that are going on in Seneca, so the community will be well informed.” City Talk airs every Saturday morning from 8-9am on 94.1 The Lake. It is being made possible thanks to HAT funds. Saturday morning the city also hosts the third annual Collins Home Mud Run at the Shaver Recreation Complex. This is a major fundraiser for the non-profit organization that provides a home for children who have been removed from their home or are unable to live in their home for whatever reason, tells Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson. “It’s tough and it’s not for everybody, but it is a great course, it’s the Augusta National of all mud runs. It’s going to be great for the Collins Childrens’ Home to raise funds at the event.” Cash prizes will be given to the top three teams in each category. To register, visit www.collinshomemudrun.com. Saturday evening the City of Seneca welcomes classic car enthusiasts to Cruzin’ on Main, adds Johnson. “It’s just another neat event that we do in downtown Seneca. You take 150 cars and each one of the them is carrying two people, that is 300 people. Then you have another 300-500 people that come in just looking. They are going to be in downtown Seneca, so that is good for our restaurants and businesses. Hopefully there will be some new people coming into town and fall in love with our city.” This car show, from 3-9pm at Railroad Park in downtown Seneca, is free to attend. Cruzin’ on Main is held the first Saturday of the month, April through October. For more information on events in the City of Seneca, visit www.seneca.sc.us.
