Seneca Utility honored with National Safety Award

Seneca Light and Water has earned a national safety award of excellence for safe operating practices in 2014. “It’s an honor to receive this award from the American Public Power Association. They had their annual Engineering and Operations Technical Conference in Sacramento, California, which I was not able to attend. They presented awards and we received first place for our size utility and I could not be more proud of the guys.” Seneca Utilities Director Bob Faires tells more about the award. “Right now we have a supervisor and eight linemen that work in the department and they work on our distribution system. So, this is in recognition of a utility our size, which is between 30,000 to 60,000 worker-hours. So, if you add all the hours together what we had was no loss time accidents during that time.” More than 290 utilities entered the annual Safety Awards, which is the highest number of entrants in the history of the program. The American Public Power Association is the national organization representing more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community- and state- owned electric utilities.
