Seneca warming up for 2013 Dixie Boys World Series

Seneca will host the 2013 Dixie Boys World Series later this summer and right now, the city is preparing the fields for the 12 teams from the Southeast.  Seneca is very familiar with the Dixie World Series having hosted the 2009 Dixie Boys and the 2011 Junior Dixie Boys World Series.  Seneca Recreation Director and 2013 Dixie Boys World Series Tournament Director Rick Lacey tells more about the tournament in August.  “This will be the 13 and 14 year olds.  This the Dixie Boys World Series.  Opening ceremonies will be on August 2nd and we will have fireworks and everything.  Everybody needs to come out and support these guys when they come into town.  We have 12 teams with 11 from out of town.  Those teams will be visiting and staying in local hotels for the World Series.  Games will start at 1pm on August 3rd and thy will run through the following Wednesday, August 7th.” The city is currently recruiting sponsors for the tournament, adds Lacey.  “We need sponsors.  We have a company that is coming in that will broadcast the last four games of the tournament live on the internet, so we are needing sponsors for that.  In addition, we need sponsors to put the tournament on; this is a big event for the city.  Anybody that would like to sponsor can just call the Recreation Department we have forms and different levels of sponsors: $250, $500 and $1,000.  If you will just call the Recreation Department at 864-885-2709 we can get you all the details.”  The 2013 Dixie Boys World Series will be a wonderful week of baseball and will provide an opportunity for the many businesses of the area to promote themselves to hundreds of out of town visitors.
