Seneca Woman Arrested Thursday on Assault and Battery by Mob Warrant

A Seneca woman remains in jail today, on a $25,000 surety bond, after her arrest yesterday on a charge of Assault and Battery by Mob – 2nd Degree.

33-year-old Kellie Renee Brown, of Laredo Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 5:48pm Thursday.  Brown was taken into custody, during a Warrant Service, at an address on Keowee School Road near the Bountyland Community.

Brown will have to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should she be released.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began during the early morning hours of January 20th after Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to a report of an assault on Sherwood Drive near Walhalla.  After arriving on scene, Deputies made contact with an adult male, who told Deputies that he had been assaulted.

Paramedics responded to the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the assault.  Deputies also began the process of gathering evidence from the scene. The investigation was turned over to the Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Based upon evidence gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Brown, along with 34-year-old Andrew Lee Bryson of Walhalla, 19-year-old Chase Landon Bonecutter of Seneca and a 16-year-old juvenile, arrived at the victim’s residence last Saturday morning and assaulted the victim on his head and body with metal pipes.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Due to the nature of the crime, and for safety and health privacy reasons, neither the victim’s name nor their medical condition will be released by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
