Seneca’s Lawsuit Against OJRSA, Member Cities Withdrawn

Seneca attorney Lane Davis gave notification that a lawsuit filed by the City against the OJRSA and member cities Westminster and Walhalla has been withdrawn without prejudice. This filing would allow a new suit to be brought about for the same cause of action, which appears to have been negate due to recent progress among the involved parties.

Attorney Davis said the progress comes from “ (a) studying how to corporately reorganize OJRSA (or another successor entity); and (b) interim efforts to revamp OJRSA’s rate structures to make them more objective as impacting the charges incurred by the parties’ customers.”

The lawsuit originated because Seneca’s representative had raised concerns as to whether or not Oconee’s largest municipality is being asked to unfairly shoulder too much of a financial burden of the costs required to operate the county’s sewer system as compared to Walhalla and Westminster.
