Seneca’s Mud Run attracts a Crowd

Getting muddy for a good cause attracted a large crowd Saturday to the City of Seneca’s Shaver Recreation Complex, explains Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson. “A lot of folks came into town and HAT money did what it is exactly to do, it is to get tourists into town. We had 71 teams to come take the challenge of Seneca’s second annual Mud Slam Mud Run.” The winning teams came from Atlanta, Hartwell and Seneca with each receiving $1,000. Proceeds from the mud run benefit the Seneca Police Department’s fundraising efforts for a new K9, adds Johnson. “All the proceeds from the entry fees and all the money raised goes to support the new K9 that will be coming to the Seneca Police Department.” Johnson thanks all the volunteers for their hard work making the event a success this year. “Just a tremendous effort by everybody involved city staff and all the volunteers that came out. We had so many people that just donated their time like Nine Rounds of Seneca and other businesses that just wanted to be a part of the event; they came out and manned one of the obstacles.” See photos of Seneca’s second annual Mud Slam Mud Run online at www.seneca.sc.us.
