Sexual Assault Attempt Reported to Oconee Deputies

Oconee County Sheriff’s Master Deputy Jimmy Watt said on Tuesday afternoon around 4:30pm, deputies responded to Applewood Shopping Center near Seneca where witnesses had reportedly restrained a suspect.

According to reports, the man allegedly followed a female into a grocery store, after asking her for food outside and stating that he was hungry. Watt said he threw her offering of food on the ground and allegedly attempted to undress the woman beside her car in the parking lot.

Demarea Tyleak Rogers

Listings at the Oconee County Detention Center show that Demarea Tyleak Rogers, age 18 of Seneca, is charged with 3rd degree criminal attempt to commit sexual assault. He remains in custody on $30,000 bond, as well as a hold for another law enforcement agency.
