SHS names Athletic Director and Head Football Coach

Kerri Yon Tylor Radford has been named the new Athletic Director at Seneca High School. Coach Radford has served as a Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Co-Athletic Director at Seneca High School over the previous eight years. Coach Radford has 23 years in the coaching profession as well as a history teacher. In his career, Coach Radford has served as a Head Coach at both TL Hanna and Crescent High School in Golf and Baseball. Coach Radford has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Clemson University, a Masters Degree in Education Leadership for Anderson University, and a Masters Degree in Sports Administration from the United States Sports Academy. “Coach Radford has been a very important part of our athletics programs here at Seneca High School for almost a decade. He has stepped up to the plate numerous times throughout his tenure here and performed admirably each time. Coach Radford is also one of the top US History teachers around. I am very proud to be in a position to reward his hard work and dedication with his appointment as Athletic Director for Seneca High School,” said Principal Cliff Roberts. Edwin “Hal” Capps has been named the new Head Football Coach at Seneca High School. Coach Capps is married to Mrs. Wendy Capps and they have a daughter, Meredith. Coach Capps is a graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, NC where he lettered for four years in football and two years in track. Coach Capps comes to us from Mooresville High School in Mooresville, NC where he has served as the Head Football Coach for six years. Coach Capps has been a head coach at the 2A, 3A, and 4A levels in his career. He has coached in the NC State Championship game four times and won the State Championship in 2007. Coach Capps has been named the North Carolina Coach of the Year numerous times throughout his career, and served as the North Carolina Head Coach in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas in 2014. Coach Capps has a career record of 214 wins versus 98 loses and is an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. “We are very excited to bring Coach Capps to lead the Bobcat Football Program here at Seneca High School. Coach Capps is an outstanding individual with high moral character that will be the example for our student athletes. He not only will win a lot of football games, he will teach our young men how to become productive citizens, honorable husbands, and dedicated fathers one day. It isn’t every day that you have an opportunity to hire someone with the pedigree that Coach Capps brings to the table. He has won multiple championships and served as the head coach in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. I look forward to all of the great things to come for our program under the leadership of Hal Capps,” said Roberts.
