SIREN TEST–JANUARY 9

December 27, 2018 Dick Mangrum
The outdoor warning sirens around the Oconee Nuclear Station will get a test shortly after the first of the New Year. Duke Energy announces the next three-minute test of the sirens is scheduled for approximately 11:50 Wednesday morning, January 9. The 65 sirens within ten miles of the plant are tested to ensure each siren works properly. Hearing a siren does not mean to evacuate. In an emergency, sirens are sounded as a signal to tune to a local radio or TV station that would carry an emergency alerting message.
