Six killed on SC Roadways over weekend

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces six persons killed on state roadways over the weekend. As of June 7, 369 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 328 highway deaths during the same time period in 2014. Locally, Oconee County reports six highway fatalities in each of the past two years at this time. Anderson County lists 14 in 2015 and 15 in 2014. Pickens County has experienced six highway deaths in 2015 compared to seven in 2014. Of the 259 motor vehicle occupants who have died statewide in 2015, 122 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight June 7, 39 pedestrians have died compared to 36 in 2014; 46 motorcyclists have died compared to 34 in 2014; and 8 bicyclists have died compared to 5 in 2014 on state roads and highways.
