SLED investigates Illegal Voting in Seneca

Seneca Police Chief John Covington asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate four suspected cases of illegal voting. Chief Covington says the cases turned up after the Seneca City Council elections in March.  Chief Covington received complaints from both city officials and the county voter registration commission regarding the possibility that up to four people illegally voted in the city election that knowingly did not reside within the city limits. Given the apparent conflict of interest, Chief Covington requested a SLED investigation into the allegations on March 27.  Former Seneca City Councilman Ernest Riley filed an official complaint to the county election commission as well.
