SLED Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Anderson County

Agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating an incident from Monday afternoon in which shots were exchanged between an armed man and officers from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were attempting to conduct a welfare check as a result of an earlier domestic dispute in n Easley when an armed subject approached deputies and gunfire was exchanged. No deputies were injured. The subject was shot during the incident and
transported to the hospital for medical treatment. This is an ongoing investigation.

The incident in Anderson County was the 16th officer involved shooting in South Carolina so far this year. In 2020, there were 49 officer involved shootings in South Carolina; three involved the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
