Slow down on Slippery Roads

Snow and ice remains on many roads in the Golden Corner of South Carolina. Oconee County Emergency Management Director Chief Scott Krein encourages motorists to wait until this afternoon to travel. “We still have snow covered roads, especially on the secondary roads. The main roads we’ve been able to get plows on and they are relatively passable, but we are not encouraging people to get out on them yet, we need the weather to warm up to let us finish with the road crews doing their job. Mother Nature is going to be good to us today, by warming up, so we should see some better road conditions later in the day.” Slow down on wet roads, because ice may not be visible. Officials ask you to stay home if you don’t have to travel, thus giving more time to clear roads in order to make them safe for motorists.
