SMS Student advances in National Geographic Bee

Thomas Nation, a sixth grade student, will represent Seneca Middle School in the next round of the National Geographic Bee. Nation was one of five students from grades six through eight to compete by answering geography questions. All five, including Berkeley Cannon (6th grade), Alan Ross (7th grade), Logan Wood-Campbell (7th grade) and Sergio Gonzalez (8th grade) as well as Nation, first had to compete within their grade level in order to earn a spot in the school-wide contest. Nation will now complete a written test to determine his eligibility to move forward to the state-level National Geographic Bee on March 27, 2015. Should he prevail there, Nation would earn an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, DC to compete in the National Geographic Bee, May 11-13, 2015 where the winner will receive a $50,000 college scholarship and additional prizes.
