Splash Away the Trash Day on Sept. 30

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, Hartwell Dam and Lake Project Office is seeking volunteers for the “Splash Away the Trash” event on September 30, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in support of National Public Lands Day. The event aims to keep Hartwell Lake clean by gathering litter and other non-natural debris along the shoreline and islands. Volunteers can register in advance and choose one of eight staffed locations or their own location to clean. Those locations are: Big Oaks Recreation Area, Green Pond Landing, Hurricane Creek Access, Lake Hartwell State Park, Sadlers Creek State Park, Seneca Creek Landing, Tugaloo State Park, and Twin Lakes Boat Ramp. Supplies can be picked up and collected trash can be dropped off at these locations. To register, visit the Corps Hartwell Lake Website or the Lake Hartwell Partners for Clean Water website.
