Sports Update For Thursday, March 14th, 2019; Seneca 8 And Under Girls Basketball Team Wins State Championship

Congratulations go out this morning to Seneca 8 and Under girls basketball team for winning the State Tournament in Clemson on Saturday with a 16-14 win over Bluffton, that is according to Seneca Recreation Director Rick Lacey. Lacey tells us that even thought basketball season is over, flag football, softball and baseball is ready to go with practice beginning soon. 

Seneca High School will be hosting a meet and greet with new Seneca Football coach David Crane and his staff this Thursday night at 6:30pm in the Media Center at Seneca High School. The program will begin promptly at 6:30pm and light refreshments will be served. 

It was a huge weekend on the Clemson campus this weekend for Tiger sports as Clemson swept a three game weekend series from North Carolina in baseball in the ACC with scores of 3-2, 17-3 and 5-4. Next up for Clemson baseball is a home game against Coastal Carolina Wednesday at 6pm. 

The Clemson basketball team is heading to the ACC Tournament on a winning note after a 67-55 win over Syracuse Saturday at Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson will face N.C.State Wednesday afternoon at Noon in the ACC Basketball Tournament in Charlotte. 

It was also a big sports weekend on the campus of the University of South Carolina as the Gamecock baseball team swept a three game series at home this weekend against Valparaiso by scores of 9-2, 3-2 and 12-6. Carolina will travel to The Citadel for a game tomorrow evening. 

The South Carolina wrapped up their regular season with a 66-46 win over Georgia on Saturday in the SEC. The Gamecocks will play their first round game in the SEC Basketball Tournament on Friday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
