Sports Update For Wednesday, December 4th, 2019; #3 Clemson Prepares For ACC Championship Game Saturday Night In Charlotte Against #23 Virginia

(Seneca, SC)–It is ACC Championship week for the Clemson Tigers as the third ranked team in the country prepares to play 23rd ranked Virginia Saturday night in Charlotte.

Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney had high accolades for Virginia quarterback Bryce Perkins at his press conference yesterday but he believes that the best quarterback that his team faces is a familiar face to Tiger fans, coaches and players.

“Well, I think the best quarterback we face is in practice everyday,” according to Coach Swinney. “Practice is competitive for us so we go out and win everyday at practice. But as far as not on our team, he’s as good as anybody we have played in what he does.”

The University of South Carolina announced yesterday that quarterback Ryan Hilinksy will have surgery to repair a small tear of the lateral meniscus in his left knee. The University said that reports that Hilinsky had a torn ACL are “completely erroneous.”

Hilinski is expected to be back at full strength in January, according to reports.

The Seneca High School Wrestling team will have their first match of the season tonight at Seneca at 6pm and they will take on Westside and Rosman, NC.

The West-Oak Wrestling team won three matches last night in the home opener for the Warriors. West-Oak defeated Stephens County, GA by a score of 55 to 18 while also defeating Southside High by a score of 72-6. In the last match of the night, West-Oak defeated Walhalla by a score of 72 to 12.

West-Oak Wrestling will return to action this coming weekend at the Kings of the Mountain tournament in Hiawassee, GA.

The Clemson women’s basketball team will be back in action tonight on the road at Iowa in the ACC/Big Ten challenge for the ladies. Tipoff for tonight’s game is set for 9pm eastern time.
