Spring Break doesn’t start until Monday in SDOC

Students in the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) have to wait another day before they can start having fun over spring break. Friday, March 30, is a regular school day now, explains Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland. “March 30, was scheduled to be an inclement weather make up day, which means that students would be off, but because we had bad weather this year, we missed more than three days, that means all of our make up days are now regular school days. So, March 30, is a regular school day, that is the Friday right before spring break and spring break will not start until April 2.” Dr. Thorsland wishes both students and faculty a relaxing spring break. “We have a full week starting April 2, and April 9, is a teacher in service day. So, students will have a six day break and faculty will have a five day break. We are looking forward to that, spring break is a welcome time, its been a long run from Christmas break up until now with very few breaks on the calendar. So, spring break will be something that we all look forward to and we want our students and teachers to be well rested and ready for that testing season as it approaches.” To see a complete calendar for the SDOC, visit www.oconee.k12.sc.us.
