Spring-time Celebrations at OCPL

The month of April is full of exciting springtime celebrations at the Oconee County Public Library.  First, join the library for a mult-generational fete of the 75th Anniversary of Ludwig Bemelmans’ beloved book Madeline.  The Seneca Library will transport you to “Paris in spring” on April 9 at 2pm, which is an early release day for the School District of Oconee County.  Visit a Paris flower market and make crafts, sample Parisian food, and enjoy listening to excerpts from Bemelmans’ Madeline books.  Dress in character if you desire.  Fun for all ages.  The Walhalla Library will celebrate Earth Day this spring with two different programs.  First, what better way to celebrate Earth Day than repurposing cardboard boxes?  Based on the beloved children’s book Not a Box, kids are invited to come to the library on April 16 at 2pm, which is Spring Break week for the School District of Oconee County and turn old boxes and other household materials into inventive creations.  All materials will be provided.  The library only asks that you bring your imaginations.  Lastly, the library will celebrate Earth Day on April 22 at 4pm with a family program about the value of trees and conservation.  Participants will learn about the Upstate Forever organization’s tree tagging program, do some fun Earth Day related crafts and activities, and every family will receive a free tree to take home and plant afterwards.
