Structure Fire on Old School House Road

At approximately 2:15pm Friday, July 29, firefighters in Oconee County were alerted to a possible residential structure fire at 163 Old School House Road in Westminster. The initial call brought the Westminster, Seneca, Walhalla, Oakway, and West Union Fire Departments along with Oconee County Emergency Services. Upon arrival of the first units, a single story residence was found with heavy smoke pouring from the attic. Firefighters quickly made entry into the unoccupied home and found fire throughout the kitchen and in the adjoining rooms. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Oconee County Fire Investigations Team. Oconee County Emergency Services reminds residents that working smoke detectors save lives.
