Students start School in SDOC in less than a Month

The end of summer is just around the corner in terms of students going back to school. Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland says teachers and students report back to school in less than a month. “Three weeks from today teachers will report that is Aug. 8 and one week after that which would be four weeks from today students will report on Aug. 15.” Returning students can register online, adds Dr. Thorsland. “Returning students can do online registration beginning July 20 and then if they do the online registration it will be less tedious when they go to their school building to register on the registration date.” For registration dates and other information, parents are encouraged to check the website of their students’ school, says Dr. Thorsland. “I would encourage people to go to their school websites. Those dates are going to be a little bit different in the different attendance areas. So, I would just encourage people to go to their school website because they can find information out about the back to school nights and the registration days that is also different from level to level. Elementary schools are typically in the evening whereas middle and high schools may be during the day, so just check the school websites out to find out the particular registration times.” To find your students’ school website visit www.oconee.k12.sc.us and click on the schools tab at the top of the page.
