Successful City Elections

Voting ran smoothly yesterday in Oconee County, according to voter registration and elections director Joy Brooks.  “Things went really well.  A little low on the turnout but there were no issues with the new photo ID, everything ran smoothly.” Brooks thanked her staff and all the volunteer poll workers for their efforts yesterday.  “Can’t say enough good about our poll workers, that was the first time that they had to deal with enforcing the photo ID.  There were some minor changes at precincts, Westminster voted at a different place, so the poll workers are where it starts and ends and they did a great job.” In Westminster, the three council seats went to newcomers Doug Williams, Yousef Mefleh and Bill Brockington.   Walhalla voters selected two incumbents and a newcomer; Jennifer Crawford, Josh Holliday and Kathy Rogers.
