Summer Reading Registration Is Open at the Oconee County Library

All branches of the Oconee County Public Library will be closed Saturday, May 28, through Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day weekend. The virtual branch, oconeelibrary.org, will be available for e-book, audio book, magazine, and video downloads. Book returns will be open during this time. All locations reopen at their normal time on Tuesday, May 31.

Readers of all ages will dive into the ocean depths this summer as the Oconee County Public Library presents “Oceans of Possibilities” during their summer reading program.

The 2022 Summer Reading Program is open to all ages with exciting activities for the whole family!

The library is challenging participants to read (or be read to) for at least 500 minutes from June 1 to July 23. Every 500 minutes of reading counts for one entry into the grand prize drawings. This year’s prizes include toys, books, STEM kits, Amazon Fire Tablets, and more! Participants ages 17 and under who complete the reading challenge will also receive a certificate and a medal.

Beginning in June, OCPL is also offering a calendar full of free events and activities for the whole family, including live animal encounters with the South Carolina Aquarium and Safe Haven & Educational Adventures, Storytime, crafts, escape rooms, games, therapy dog visits, and much more!

Summer Reading Registration opened on May 23rd, and the program officially kicks off on June 1st.
